Why Using New Media Can Generate More Attention For Your Blog

We’re all so use to the traditional methods of generating traffic for our blogs. This includes text and images, which in general is the more prominent way of getting traffic. However, I often get the question of why using text and images is so important. My answer to them is simply because search engines like Google and Bing only index this type of content. Videos and other types of media are not indexed by these search engines.

With that said, a new debate is stirring as to whether the statement above is still true. With the invention of Youtube, Flickr, and other types of media search engines you can now get even more attention for your website by diversifying the content you create into different formats. By including video, podcasts, and other types of content into your blog you’re opening doors to the potential of driving more traffic to your website.

Another reason why you should keep a closer eye on multi-media related content is that there really hasn’t been anyone who’s taken it to the next level. There is so much competition in search engines related to text content that it can be extremely difficult to “break through the ice”. My point is, that there is an increasing opportunity for new bloggers to get more attention from sites like Youtube, Blip, Mypodcast.com, and many more. Youtube for example has lead to increasing popularity for many people including Chris Pirillo, Asa The Comic, John Rettinger, and many more. There is not allot of competition for videos in comparison to regular text, so I recommend you get in on this new money making tool as quickly as possible.

That’s very interesting Brad and very true. Competing with millions of blogs and websites for keywords is almost impossible. I agree that these new media content is still far from its full potential and that bloggers should spend more time thinking of how to build media content instead of wasting so much time with SEO.
