What Operating System Is Best For Bloggers?
There are many different platforms that you can use to publish your blog posts. Luckily for us there are plenty of remote publishing software in which you can publish articles directly from your desktop. I myself use Windows Live Writer as it works seamlessly with the WordPress interface and requires little time to setup and personalize the options to fit your writing style.
However, that’s not the point of this post. Today I’m going to discuss with you the different benefits of blogging on different operating systems. I’m hoping that through this article you’ll discover that it’s not the software, operating system, or applications you use that will make you a better blogger, it’s the content that you create. So here are the three different operating systems you can choose from.
- Windows- Using the Microsoft made operating system is perfect for anyone who wants to have a simple experience. I find that the use of Windows Live Writer with Windows is your best bet when trying make the integration with WordPress more simplified. I personally am comfortable recommending the use of a Windows PC if you’re a blogger. With that said, you may want to wait until after October 22, 2009 since Microsoft is planning on releasing Windows 7. However, if you want to get a discount you can pre-order Windows 7 right now from Amazon.
- Macintosh- Macs are generally used for media production such as video and audio. However, there are a few programs which will work with a Macintosh including MarsEdit, illumineX, and many more. I personally found that these programs have a more difficult time working together with the WordPress platform, therefor, possibly ruining the format of your blog posts. If you do decide on getting a Mac I personally recommend the Macbook Pro 13 inch.
- Google Chrome OS- Although the Google operating system hasn’t been released yet I already have suspicions that this OS will be fantastic for bloggers just because of the mere fact that Google is an Internet based company. I’m expecting that that Chrome OS will integrate with other Google services such as Google Docs and their Webmaster program nicely and will provide bloggers with the tools necessary to publish quality content from their desktop easily. The best thing about the Chrome OS is that it will be free and open source. Open Source means that web developers around the world will be able to help improve and edit the operating system.
All in all, it’s not the operating system that will best assist you in developing powerful content. It’s up to you to make sure your articles are high quality and understandable for your readers. If you cannot do this, no operating system will help you, nor will any software or plugin.
