Top 5 Tips To Browse Safely and Securely

Browsing the internet is always a fun experience. Unfortunately allot of people still, even in modern times, have trouble discovering witch sites are safe to browse. Well today I’m going to assist you in deciphering how you can decide which sites are safe for you.

  • Know your sites- Before trying to use a new site that you’ve never been on, research about it. It could be simple as searching Google about the legitimacy of the site or by quickly asking a family member or friend. The people closest to you can prove to be a great help when trying to browse safely and securely online.
  • Turn your Firewall on- Most people don’t know that their computer almost always comes with a firewall. By simply turning this free feature on you’ll have that extra defense against unwanted spyware and virus’s. On a Windows machine your Firewall can be found under Control Panel => System & Security => Windows Firewall.
  • Use common sense- Downloading files from websites are never safe. Downloading software from unknown sites along with torrential sites increases your risk of being infected. Knowing witch names sound fishy compared to known names such as CNET, TechCrunch, and of course my site will assist you greatly.
  • Don’t click links- The unfortunate thing with links is that you never know where they may lead you. Links can be masked and forward to dangerous sites, therefore potentially leading you to infect your system. All links aren’t bad though: Knowing which sites are safe compared to the unknown will usually be safe.
  • Don’t be scared- To tell you the truth, most sites on the internet aren’t harmful. The purpose of owners creating a website isn’t typically to produce dangerous threats but sell you a product. If you think a site may infect you try reporting it to various security sites such as McAfee or AVG.
