Introduction:

When i first heard of the Venus(8800) i assumed it was going to be some kind of wimpy pink feminine type of cellphone, with cartoons, and flowers all over it. Well i must say that this phone has proved me wrong ever since I slid it open for the first time. The phone has plenty of interesting features on it including the touchscreen, camera, and much more. Continue on to discover more about the LG Venus.

Review:

In a typical Lg Venus box there is inside of it the phone, Lg Charger, ear buds, microphone, usb cord, a manual, a pouch, and the rest of the standard gizmo’s and gadgets that would come with a cellular device. The boxes are different around the world and the company you have bought from may or may-not have added extra stuff to the box in which it is delivered to you.

The Lg 8800(Venus)

When you first see the phone, it may seem like a single screened black hole, as it has a black outline surrounding it. The actual screen is separated into two parts, a touch screen and a normal screen. The normal screen is 2 inches, while the touch screen is 1.5 inches. Both screens show a stunning display with the included animated backgrounds. These screens are also very reflective, and for optimum visual performance it is best to use this phone inside. This slider phone also comes with a standard keypad with a somewhat zigzag design. This design is somewhat different from the Lg Chocolate which showed us a checkerboard type of a design. Overall the visual aspects of this phone are very pleasing and appealing to the human eye.

Once you turn the phone on (by holding the end button), it will show go through it’s start up routine and direct you to the main screen where they have like all standard cellphones, the time, service, company name, title, and the rest of all of those goodies. To activate the main menu you have to press the center key on the touch screen. This will usually show a vertical list of all the features that the cellphone has. Using the arrow keys on the touch screen you are able to navigate this list. Once you have made a selection you now use all arrows of the touch navigation screen to fly through everything on the cellphone.

Some standard features this cellphone comes with include a camera, navigator, scheduler, internet browser, calculator, world clocks, music player, video camera, text messaging, radio, television, speaker phone, speed dial, instant messaging services, the ability to buy ring tones and other media, and of course the 1000 entry phone book. All of these have a good user interface to a certain extent. It takes around 10-15 seconds to find the scheduler for example unless you post it to your shortcuts button on the main screen of the Lg Venus. Using these shortcuts provide easier access to your most used features of the cellphone using your selection choices.

Now to the main feature of the phone, which of course is the touch screen. As i have said earlier, the touch screen takes up 1.5 inches of the lower screen on the phone. While testing this touch screen we found that there is a slight delay in reaction time which is rarely noticeable. There was also the occasional time where the touch screen reacted but did not register the command. In a simpler way sometimes when you touched the screen it looked like the button you clicked on did click. Unfortunately though it did not. I should also point out that this happened only once to me in two days, which in my opinion isn’t a big deal at all.

The overall usage of the phone is simple and easy to use. The touch screen does take some time getting used to. I have heard of some people having the instinct to touch the main screen to navigate, but they were unfortunatly depressed that they were unable to do it. The battery life of the phone is standard to other phones, along with the mp3 player. The only difference to this mp3 player is that it has the ability to cover flow through all of your music in your library.

I would definatly recomend this phone to anyone. It is a simple and great looking phone that catches your eye right away. Lg has definatly come out with a great peice of technology that i know that i will use within the years to come. If you have any questions you may email me, or leave a comment below. I will have a video up and running about the Venus within the coming days.
