How To View Stats On Your Bit.ly Links

Many people are constantly using the Bit.ly linking service to shorten their URLSor f a multitude of different website links. I know I use it when I’m linking to my new posts using Twitter. This I’ve found to be a fantastic promotional tool when it comes to “getting your message out there” and letting more readers connect to you and your blog.

Now an interesting new trick that I’ve found out recently is that if you ad a + sign to one of your links you’ll be able to view all the statistics on your link. For example, if I had the link http://bit.ly/g81Z all I’d have to do is add the + sign to the very end of it like this- http://bit.ly/g81Z+.

Once you do this you’ll receive access to a whole bunch of stats including referring sites, number of hits, who’s promoting your link, and much more. I find that this information can be extremely valuable when you’re determining where and when visitors are accessing your website. Although using this feature is no match to services like Google Analytics and Woopra when you’re figuring out the statistics on your website, it’s still a fantastic secondary alternative when you’re dealing with website information.
