Today we have heard about yet another problem with Yahoo’s luck with social networking. Yet again another failure with Mash users receiving this message-

Mash is a social networking site that really has nothing special going for it. You could call Mash the brother of Facebook, Myspace, and just about every other social network out there. Except for the fact that it’s based off the Apple ID.

s it only a coincidence that Yahoo has had at least four failures trying to get into the social networking market? First in 2005 Yahoo launched 360 which left virtually unnoticed by the public and news organizations. Then they attempted to acquire Facebook with the potential of over 1.6 billion being payed out. That eventually went down the bucket. They of course new that they were going to get Bebo with a billion dollar offer. But no they didn’t, instead it went to AOL for a substantially lower price of around 1 billion. Now they are shutting down the newly born Mash. When i say newly born i mean less than a year ago.

This leaves the question for Yahoo. Do they realize that this is never going to work? Or are they going to keep throwing millions down the drain? Yahoo has seen that Social networking isn’t and in my opinion never will be their thing. An example of that is that i haven’t even heard of Mash until I saw news reports being released about it. Yahoo obviously isn’t getting their message out there to the public.

I should also note on this blog that Yahoo is going to be putting Google ads onto their search results towards mid to late October. They expect to make hundreds of millions of dollars out of this deal.
