Most home computers preferably Windows Vista, come with a sidebar with the ability to customize it’s gadgets. You also have this ability when using the Google Sidebar. Here are my top 5 favorite sidebar gadgets, that will probably already be installed onto your sidebar.

1. The Analog Clock- I am sympathetic when i say this. I tend to toggle my eyes towards the two hand analog clock on Windows Vista rather than looking at the bottom right hand corner for the actual time. Why I do this? Well it’s taken me a while to figure this out, but for me it appears to be the white clock with a black trim around it. I know it sounds a bit funny but that is the reason why. I should also ad on that the numbers are attractive with their bubbly look. This gadget/ widgert or whatever you want to call it usually comes with your regular Windows Vista sidebar.

2- Of course this one is a no brainer. The weather gadget. I use this all the time, mainly due to the ease of access. It gives you pleasure in thought when you don’t have to navigate all the way to your local weather forecast when you can simply refocus your eyes to a different part of the screen. The Windows Vista Weather Gadget allows you to choose almost every single city in North America. The functions of this widget is also very simple. When on the gadget list it shows a thumbnail version of the current weather and temperature. When off the sidebar it shows a full four day fourcast and the current weather. This widget in my opinion is the best gadget that i have on my current sidebar.

3- The Chris Pirillo Gadget. Yes you can get Chris Pirillo on your sidebar. It’s as simple of going to the online Microsoft gadget website and searching “Pirillo”. Once you have gotten this sidebar widget it shows the video screen capture of the now “internet” famous computer junkie Chris Pirillo. The screen size stays below 500 pixels with the length and the hight of the Ustream player. It also provides a link to Chris’s live page where you can watch the stream and chat on the same page. You also will get to be on television. Ok maybe not you……… but your words will. Chris embeds his chat within the stream and the world is able to see it no matter where you are. To get a better idea go to live.pirillo.com.

4- The picture slide show also ads a nice touch to the sidebar. The unique ability to stream pictures from your computer allows you to visualize your photo’s constantly, or for as long as your sidebar is visible. It only shows the photo’s of the main “My Pictures” folder. This means it doesn’t dig into files looking for pictures. This is a great sidebar widget if your sole interest is looking at all the good memories you have had in the past.

5- Feed headlines. This is just a constant stream of news headlines usually from Google. This may include breaking news, international news, sports news, weather headlines, technology news, health news, and all of the other news you would expect from a news feed. It automatically flows news stories through your sidebar so you are able to know immediately what is happening in your world. I love this widget and i still use it constantly in my everyday life.

Those are just some of the simple basic widgets that you find on your everyday computer sidebar. Although they may be basic, i find them to be useful and fun. If you are interested in searching for more sidebar gadgets in Windows Vista go to the sidebar, right click, click on “Add Gadgets”, then find “Get more Gadgets online”. There you will find a detailed list of available Gadgets for Windows Vista, and also have the ability to search.
